Day 3

Ancient Segesta and mountaintop Erice

We boarded our bus this morning bound for the ancient Greek site of Segesta. Recent wildfires had scorched much of the surrounding area, but the temple and theater were spared. We stopped at the home of a local legend who is known for her pastries. We were treated to a hands-on demonstration of some of her specialties, followed by lunch of local dishes provided by the chef and her staff. A short visit to the hilltop town of Erice followed, where we wandered around the cobblestone streets for a short time before boarding the bus for the drive down to the seaside town of Trapani.
